Dr. Heineke is an educational researcher and professor who regularly supports PK-12 schools and districts with professional development related to multilingual learners. Her career began as a classroom teacher in Phoenix, Arizona, where she worked with primarily Mexican immigrant students labeled as English learners. She now works with teachers and leaders to enhance the educational opportunities and outcomes of multilingual learners by embracing strengths, deepening language competencies, and ensuring equitable access to learning.
